30 U. C. CASES OF INFLUENZA; 14 MORE HERE
Fourteen new cases of Spanish influenza had developed in Oakland up to 10 o'clock this morning, according to reports received by the city health department. It is rumored that a few cases have developed among car platform men. Most of the cases are among grown persons. Very few children have been stricken by the malady within the last few days.
All attacks are mild, according to Dr. Kirby Smith, city health officer. Patients are being isolated and precautions are being taken, Dr. Smith says, to check the spread of influenza. Persons suffering from bad colds are being closely watched for development of symptoms of the contagion.
Further precautionary measures are to be discussed at a meeting of the Alameda County Medical Association, which will probably be called soon, according to the health authorities.
