CHECK WAVE OF INFLUENZA IN EASTBAY
Use of the motion picture theaters and schools to combat Spanish influenza will be the policy of the local health authorities, instead of the drastic plan of closing schools and theaters. This was announced today by Dr. F. F. Jackson, commissioner of public health and safety, and Dr. Kirby Smith, city health officer, today, [sic] following a meeting attended by more than 100 physicians of Oakland, Alameda, and Berkeley. The meeting was held in the city hall last night, and was taken up with an exhaustive discussion of the Spanish influenze situation.
